Action For Children

Action for Children is a UK children’s charity. Its mission statement asserts that it is committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people break through injustice, deprivation and inequality.

The charity works with over 50,000 children and young people whose families need support, who are in care, who are disabled or who experience severe difficulties in their lives through 480 projects, services and schools. It also promotes social justice through research and by lobbying and campaigning for change.

The website states: "Our work is focused around our vision of a world where all children and young people have a sense of belonging, and are loved and valued; a world where they can fulfil their potential and experience the joy of life."

Its national headquarters is in Watford and it is a registered charity under English and Scottish law. In 2010/11 it had a gross income of £200 million, making it one of the 20 largest charities in the UK.

Famous quotes containing the words action for, action and/or children:

The philosophy of action for action, power for the sake of power, had become an established orthodoxy. “Thou has conquered, O go-getting Babbitt.”
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

The philosophy of action for action, power for the sake of power, had become an established orthodoxy. “Thou has conquered, O go-getting Babbitt.”
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

I trust the time is coming, when the occupation of an instructer [sic] to children will be deemed the most honorable of human employment. If it is a drudgery to teach these little ones, then it is the duty of men to bear a part of that burthen; if it is a privilege and an honor, then we generously invite them to share that honor and privilege with us.
    Angelina Grimké (1805–1879)
