96.3 Real Radio XS is a Scottish local radio station owned by Global Radio. It is based at Ballieston to the east of Glasgow and broadcasts to Renfrewshire, West Central Scotland and Central Scotland.
Sister station Real Radio XS is based in Salford, Manchester and operates separately. It broadcasts to to North West England on FM & DAB; North East England, Yorkshire, Severn Estuary, London, Central Scotland and West Midlands on DAB.
The station was born in January 2007 as Rock Radio, on the frequency previously occupied by Q96 after GMG Radio purchased the station from The Wireless Group and UTV Radio.
On 25 June 2012 it was announced Global Radio had bought GMG Radio, however the former will continue to operate separately until a regulatory review is carried out, the future of Real Radio XS is unknown.
