723 Squadron RAN - Current Roles

Current Roles

723 is currently active as a helicopter training squadron equipped with 13 Aerospatiale AS 350BA Ecureuil (Squirrel) and three Agusta A109E helicopters. The Squadron is based at HMAS Albatross (NAS Nowra). The Squirrels are used for conversion training all pilots, observers and aircrew from fixed wing to rotary wing aircraft. The Agustas joined the Squadron in 2007 on lease from Raytheon Australia and are used for multi engine training for pilots moving onto other aircraft such as the SH-60B Seahawk. They will be replaced by three leased Bell 429 helicopters from 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or roles:

The English language may hold a more disagreeable combination of words than “The doctor will see you now.” I am willing to concede something to the phrase “Have you anything to say before the current is turned on?”
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

There is a striking dichotomy between the behavior of many women in their lives at work and in their lives as mothers. Many of the same women who are battling stereotypes on the job, who are up against unspoken assumptions about the roles of men and women, seem to accept—and in their acceptance seem to reinforce—these roles at home with both their sons and their daughters.
    Ellen Lewis (20th century)
