Famous quotes containing the words high, noon and/or mountain:
“What did it matter where you lay once you were dead? In a dirty sump or in a marble tower on top of a high hill? You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things like that. Oil and water were the same as wind and air to you.”
—Raymond Chandler (18881959)
“At noon in the desert a panting lizard
waited for history, its elbows tense,
watching the curve of a particular road
as if something might happen.”
—William Stafford (19141941)
“The mountain pushed us off her knees.
And now her lap is full of trees.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
