The 35th parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 35 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane. It crosses Africa, the Mediterranean Sea, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, North America and the Atlantic Ocean.
In the United States, the parallel defines the southern border of Tennessee, and the border between North Carolina and Georgia. It was the proposed route of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad.
At this latitude the sun is visible for 14 hours, 31 minutes during the summer solstice and 9 hours, 48 minutes during the winter solstice.

“There is a parallel between the twos and the tens. Tens are trying to test their abilities again, sizing up and experimenting to discover how to fit in. They dont mean everything they do and say. They are just testing. . . . Take a good deal of your daughters behavior with a grain of salt. Try to handle the really outrageous as matter-of-factly as you would a mistake in grammar or spelling.”
—Stella Chess (20th century)
“The Bostonians are really, as a race, far inferior in point of anything beyond mere intellect to any other set upon the continent of North America. They are decidedly the most servile imitators of the English it is possible to conceive.”
