Present Day
The Battery Currently forms part of 39th Regiment Royal Artillery. Most of the Battery has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Op Herrick. Deployed with GMLRS providing essential support to the troops on the ground as and when it is needed. The rest of the Battery are back in Newcastle with the Regiment and providing support to the Troops deployed. 35 Battery are the senior battery within 39 regiment RA as they were established in 1765, therefore they would lead any parade the Regiment was to undertake in. 35 Battery is widely considered to be the "best" Battery within the Regiment not only by its current and past members but also by the personnel who have been attached to 35 Bty on operations from another battery from 39 Regiment RA, many of which have subsequently transferred from their battery to 35 Bty. Although 35 Battery do not have a recognised battle honour thus not having a name they have been called "The Sabres" or "The Black Scimitars", this being a reference to the battery badge or shield.

Famous quotes containing the words present day, present and/or day:
“One of the most singular facts about the unwritten history of this country is the consummate ability with which Southern influence, Southern ideas and Southern ideals, have from the very beginning even up to the present day, dictated to and domineered over the brain and sinew of this nation.”
—Anna Julia Cooper (18591964)
“In sum, all actions and habits are to be esteemed good or evil by their causes and usefulness in reference to the commonwealth, and not by their mediocrity, nor by their being commended. For several men praise several customs, and, contrarily, what one calls vice, another calls virtue, as their present affections lead them.”
—Thomas Hobbes (15791688)
“You know I am given to antiquarian and genealogical pursuits. An old family letter is a delight to my eyes. I can prowl in old trunks of letters by the day with undiminished zest.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
