2014 Asian Beach Games

2014 Asian Beach Games

The Fourth Asian Beach Games are to be held in Phuket Island, Thailand. The games were originally scheduled for Boracay Island, Aklan, Philippines, but was affected by the OCA's hosting changes.

The games will fall on the same year of the 17th Asian Games.

It will be the seventh time for Thailand to host an Asia level multi-sports event, after Bangkok held four Asian Games (1966, 1970, 1978 and 1998), one Asian Indoor Games (2005) and one Asian Martial Arts Games (2009). However, it will be the first time that the event won't be held in Bangkok.

Famous quotes containing the words asian, beach and/or games:

If he roars at you as you’re dyin’
You’ll know it is the Asian Lion.
    Carolyn Wells (1862–1942)

A young person is a person with nothing to learn
One who already knows that ice does not chill and fire does not burn . . .
It knows it can spend six hours in the sun on its first
day at the beach without ending up a skinless beet,
And it knows it can walk barefoot through the barn
without running a nail in its feet. . . .
    Meanwhile psychologists grow rich
Writing that the young are ones’ should not
    undermine the self-confidence of which.
    Ogden Nash (1902–1971)

Whatever games are played with us, we must play no games with ourselves, but deal in our privacy with the last honesty and truth.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
