Seasonal Summary
The season has been relatively active. Hurricane Bud became a major hurricane in May, marking the third occurrence of such. Hurricane Carlotta threatened Mexico in mid-June. In July three hurricanes developed, two of which reached major hurricane strength. With the formation of Hurricane Fabio on July 12, the season was a month ahead of normal.
The first tropical cyclone, Tropical Storm Aletta, developed on May 14, which was about a day before the normal start of the season. The final storm of the year, Tropical Storm Rosa, dissipated on November 3. Storm activity in the Central Pacific Hurricane Center's area of responsibility was below average, with no tropical cyclones forming in the region One tropical cyclone, Hurricane Daniel, entered the Central Pacific, as a tropical storm.
The Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) for the season was 98.
