Notable Reactions

This section requires expansion.

After the final game of the season, Lions' radio play-by-play announcer Dan Miller summed up the whole year in a few sentences:

Clock ticks down here in Green Bay. The Lions find themselves in a very familiar position. For 16 weeks, starting in Atlanta back in September, they took the field thinking this was gonna be their day. Sixteen times they were wrong, and now there are no Sundays left. By record, they are the worst team in league history. Zero and 16, those are the numbers that will forever be associated with the Detroit Lions. —Dan Miller December 28, 2008, on the Detroit Lions Radio Network, after the Detroit Lions become the first team in the history of the NFL to go 0-16.

On the NFL Network's "Top 10 Worst Teams of All Time", the 2008 Lions were recently placed at #1, with the 0-14 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers falling to #2.

Famous quotes containing the words notable and/or reactions:

In one notable instance, where the United States Army and a hundred years of persuasion failed, a highway has succeeded. The Seminole Indians surrendered to the Tamiami Trail. From the Everglades the remnants of this race emerged, soon after the trail was built, to set up their palm-thatched villages along the road and to hoist tribal flags as a lure to passing motorists.

Separation anxiety is normal part of development, but individual reactions are partly explained by experience, that is, by how frequently children have been left in the care of others.... A mother who is never apart from her young child may be saying to him or her subliminally: “You are only safe when I’m with you.”
    Cathy Rindner Tempelsman (20th century)
