The 2006 North Carolina football team began with the Tar Heels unranked in the AP and coaches' preseason polls. Famous quotes containing the words previous and/or season:

New York has never learnt the art of growing old by playing on all its pasts. Its present invents itself, from hour to hour, in the act of throwing away its previous accomplishments and challenging the future. A city composed of paroxysmal places in monumental reliefs.
    Michel de Certeau (1925–1986)

When I read a story, I relive the moment from which it sprang. A scene burned itself into me, a building magnetized me, a mood or season of Nature’s penetrated me, history suddenly appeared to me in some tiny act, or a face had begun to haunt me before I glanced at it.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)
