Famous quotes containing the words crown, royal, presents, jim and/or stewart:

From the crown of his head to the sole of his foot, he is all mirth.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

When other helpers fail and comforts flee, when the senses decay and the mind moves in a narrower and narrower circle, when the grasshopper is a burden and the postman brings no letters, and even the Royal Family is no longer quite what it was, an obituary column stands fast.
    Sylvia Townsend Warner (1893–1978)

To him who looks upon the world rationally, the world in its turn presents a rational aspect. The relation is mutual.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

Just kids! That’s about the craziest argument I’ve ever heard. Every criminal in the world was a kid once. What does it prove?
—Theodore Simonson. Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr.. Jim Bird, The Blob, responding to the suggestion that they not lock up the teens pulling the alien “prank,” (1958)

Anthropologists have found that around the world whatever is considered “men’s work” is almost universally given higher status than “women’s work.” If in one culture it is men who build houses and women who make baskets, then that culture will see house-building as more important. In another culture, perhaps right next door, the reverse may be true, and basket- weaving will have higher social status than house-building.
