The 2004 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, played on December 31, 2004, was the 46th edition of the Liberty Bowl. The game was played between Boise State, and Louisville, in front of 58,355 fans.
This bowl game was notable for being the highest ranked non-BCS bowl game in the nation that year, with Boise State ranked 9th and Louisville ranked 10th.
Boise State played in place of the Mountain West Conference champions, the Utah Utes, who played in the Fiesta Bowl instead.
Famous quotes containing the words liberty and/or bowl:
“... there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty, or death; if I could not have one, I would take de oder; for no man should take me alive; I should fight for my liberty as long as my strength lasted, and when de time came for me to go, de Lord would let dem take me.”
—Harriet Tubman (c. 1820–1913)
“The bowl will ensnare and enchant
men who crouch by the hearth
till they want
but the riot of stars in the night;
those who dwell far inland
will seek ships.”
—Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)
