1962 FIBA European Champions Cup Final

The 1962 FIBA European Champions Cup Final was a basketball match held in Patinoire des Vernets, Geneva, Switzerland on 29 June 1962, that saw Dynamo Tbilisi defeat Real Madrid 90-83 in front of 4,000 spectators to claim its first, and to this day, the only ever European Champions Cup title, and the first ever title decided by one game on neutral ground.
Only one game on neutral ground was played due to the unstable political situation.

Famous quotes containing the words european, champions, cup and/or final:

Unsophisticated and confiding, they are easily led into every vice, and humanity weeps over the ruin thus remorselessly inflicted upon them by their European civilizers.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

While the Governor, and the Mayor, and countless officers of the Commonwealth are at large, the champions of liberty are imprisoned.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I know it does make people happy, but to me it is just like having a cup of tea.
    Cynthia Paine (b. 1934)

It is in the nature of allegory, as opposed to symbolism, to beg the question of absolute reality. The allegorist avails himself of a formal correspondence between “ideas” and “things,” both of which he assumes as given; he need not inquire whether either sphere is “real” or whether, in the final analysis, reality consists in their interaction.
