12 Flight Army Air Corps was an independent flight. It was part of the Army Air Corps.
Based at RAF Wildenrath in West Germany, the unit operated in the communications role in support of the British Army of the Rhine in Germany. The Airfield is now closed and little remains to identify the former RAF Station or the Hanger in which 12 Flight AAC was situated. The primary role of the Air Flight was in support of the Commander BAOR, a four star General, who was based at JHQ Rheindahlen, Mönchengladbach.
The unit operated 4 Westland Gazelle AH1 helicopters. 12 Flight was finally based in Javelin Barracks, Elmpt Station, the former RAF Brüggen Air Force Station, 12 Flight Army Air Corps finally disbanded after 57 Years in Germany.
Famous quotes containing the words flight, army, air and/or corps:
“Fear of error which everything recalls to me at every moment of the flight of my ideas, this mania for control, makes men prefer reasons imagination to the imagination of the senses. And yet it is always the imagination alone which is at work.”

“I have been up to see the Congress and they do not seem to be able to do anything except to eat peanuts and chew tobacco, while my army is starving.”

“People fall out of windows, trees tumble down,
Summer is changed to winter, the young grow old
The air is full of children, statues, roofs
And snow. The theatre is spinning round,
Colliding with deaf-mute churches and optical trains.
The most massive sopranos are singing songs of scales.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
“There was nothing to equal it in the whole history of the Corps Diplomatique.”
—James Boswell (17401795)
