Zephaniah ( /ˌzɛfəˈnaɪ.ə/) or Tzfanya (Hebrew: צְפַנְיָה, Tsfanya Ṣəp̄anyā ; "Concealed of/is Lord") is the name of several people in the Bible Old Testament and Jewish Tanakh. He is also called Sophonias as in the New Catholic Encyclopaedia and in Easton's Dictionary. The name might mean "Yah(weh) has concealed", " Yah(weh) has hidden", or ""Yah(weh) lies in wait"".
