Zeng Fanzhi - Art School

Art School

Zeng was in art school from 1987-1991, and he paid a particular interest in German Expressionist painters. During his third year of schooling, he began instead to learn more about the actual approaches that the expressionists would take to painting. By the time his first show came to fruition, it was apparent that he had gained his very own style and the work gained him a large amount of respect in the Chinese art scene.

Famous quotes containing the words art and/or school:

“Modernity” signifies the transitory, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art of which the other half is the eternal and the immutable.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

At school boys become gluttons and slovens, and, instead of cultivating domestic affections, very early rush into the libertinism which destroys the constitution before it is formed; hardening the heart as it weakens the understanding.
