Racial Slur Controversy
In the February 13, 2006 issue of Western Standard, a column by Ric Dolphin quoted an unnamed "fishing buddy" of Ralph Klein's as saying, "Once she (Colleen Klein) stops being the premier's wife, she goes back to being just another Indian." This occurred in the context of a piece that was critical of Klein's wife, arguing that she holds too much power over the premier's office. Ezra Levant, publisher of the magazine, defended the article saying "We sympathize with Colleen's hurt feelings but we didn't say the words – we just reported them, and we'll continue to report on the growing divide between those who think Ralph is past his best-before date, and those sycophants who will do anything to keep him – and the missus – in power."

Famous quotes containing the words racial, slur and/or controversy:
“Human beings will be happiernot when they cure cancer or get to Mars or eliminate racial prejudice or flush Lake Erie but when they find ways to inhabit primitive communities again. Thats my utopia.”

“Wise Draco comes, deep in the midnight roll
Of black artillery; he comes, though late;
In code corroborating Calvins creed
And cynic tyrannies of honest kings;
He comes, nor parlies; and the Town, redeemed,
Gives thanks devout; nor, being thankful, heeds
The grimy slur on the Republics faith implied,
Which holds that Man is naturally good,
Andmoreis Natures Roman, never to be
scourged.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.”
—Thomas Hobbes (15791688)
