Famous quotes containing the words white, house and/or mess:

At middle night great cats with silver claws,
Bodies of shadow and blind eyes like pearls,
Came up out of the hole, and red-eared hounds
With long white bodies came out of the air
Suddenly, and ran at them and harried them.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

To have no son, no wife,
No house or land still seemed quite natural.
Only a numbness registered the shock
Of finding out how much had gone of life,
    How widely from the others.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

Status quo, you know, that is Latin for “the mess we’re in.”
    Ronald Reagan (b. 1911)
