Uradel

Uradel (German for “primeval/original nobility”) is a non-legal term of classification in the German nobility as well as in the Danish nobility, the Norwegian nobility, and the Swedish nobility. It may be translated as "free-born aristocracy" (Edelfrei), as opposed, for example, to the knightly, but unfree, ministeriales.
