History
The Toronto Film Critics Association is the official organization of Toronto-based broadcasters and journalists who critique films and provide commentary on them. Members represent all major print and electronic outlets in the city. They have juried festivals all over the world, from Cannes to Berlin, Venice to Toronto. The TFCA began presenting awards in the first year and the party around them has grown in the past few years to be an event covered by major outlets.
The Association also has a special award not presented every year. The Clyde Gilmour Award goes to a "Canadian who has enriched the understanding and appreciation of film in this country."

“We know only a single science, the science of history. One can look at history from two sides and divide it into the history of nature and the history of men. However, the two sides are not to be divided off; as long as men exist the history of nature and the history of men are mutually conditioned.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
