The Rolling Stones, subtitled England's Newest Hit Makers, is the American debut album by the Rolling Stones, released by London Records on 30 May 1964.
The track "Not Fade Away" (the A-side of the band's third UK single) replaced "Mona (I Need You Baby)". Upon its release, England's Newest Hitmakers reached #11 in the US, going gold in the process. To date, this is the only of the Stones' American studio albums that failed to place in the top five on the Billboard album charts.
In August 2002, England's Newest Hitmakers was reissued as a new remastered CD and SACD digipak by ABKCO.

Famous quotes containing the words american and/or release:
“I had such a wonderful feeling last night, walking beneath the dark sky while cannon boomed on my right and guns on my left ... the feeling that I could change the world only by being there.”
—Viorica Butnariu, Rumanian student at Bucharest University. letter, Dec. 23, 1989, to American friend. Observer (London, Dec. 31, 1989)
“An inquiry about the attitude towards the release of so-called political prisoners. I should be very sorry to see the United States holding anyone in confinement on account of any opinion that that person might hold. It is a fundamental tenet of our institutions that people have a right to believe what they want to believe and hold such opinions as they want to hold without having to answer to anyone for their private opinion.”
—Calvin Coolidge (18721933)
