The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is a professional association and the legal certifying body for family medicine in Canada. This national organization of family physicians was founded in 1954 and currently numbers over 25,000 members.
The CFPC establishes the standards for the training, certification, and lifelong education of family physicians. It accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada's 17 medical schools, conducts the certification examination in family medicine, and grants the CCFP and FCFP designations.
Members of the CFPC belong to the national College as well as to their provincial chapters. The CFPC runs a program designed to support the continuous professional development of its members named Mainpro (Maintenance of Proficiency).
Each year the CFPC hosts Family Medicine Forum, a family medicine conference. Its official journal is Canadian Family Physician.

“What makes philosophy so tedious is not the profundity of philosophers, but their lack of art; they are like physicians who sought to cure a slight hyperacidity by prescribing a carload of burned oyster-shells.”
