Sing Tao Daily - Political Stance

Political Stance

The Sing Tao has a pro-government history. Before the reunification of Hong Kong with China, it supported the British colonial government; and once Hong Kong turned into a special administrative region, it turned support to the Beijing government.

On 11 November 2001, the Quebec Supreme Court issued an injunction against the local edition of Sing Tao Daily for libel against the Falun Gong, which is outlawed in the People's Republic of China as an "evil cult".

Famous quotes containing the words political and/or stance:

...I don’t have an inner drive to do as well as anybody else ... I have a great pleasure in writing and part of that is political and part of that is I’m surprised that I’ve done as well as I have. I really am just surprised.
    Grace Paley (b. 1922)

For good teaching rests neither in accumulating a shelfful of knowledge nor in developing a repertoire of skills. In the end, good teaching lies in a willingness to attend and care for what happens in our students, ourselves, and the space between us. Good teaching is a certain kind of stance, I think. It is a stance of receptivity, of attunement, of listening.
    Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
