Sharon Osbourne - Early Life

Early Life

Osbourne was born Sharon Rachel Levy in Brixton, London, the daughter of music promoter and rock and roll entrepreneur Don Arden (born Harry Levy), and his wife Hope Shaw, an Irish Catholic. Osbourne is the wife and manager of Black Sabbath vocalist John Osbourne, better known as Ozzy Osbourne, and together they have three children, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack Osbourne. After colon cancer claimed Osbourne's friend, Reagan Erin Marcato, in July 2002, she told the BBC that she had adopted Marcato's 18-year-old son Robert, but she denied legally adopting him five years later when he was sent to live with his father after a nervous breakdown. Robert had been a school friend of Aimee and Kelly for six years.

Famous quotes related to early life:

... business training in early life should not be regarded solely as insurance against destitution in the case of an emergency. For from business experience women can gain, too, knowledge of the world and of human beings, which should be of immeasurable value to their marriage careers. Self-discipline, co-operation, adaptability, efficiency, economic management,—if she learns these in her business life she is liable for many less heartbreaks and disappointments in her married life.
    Hortense Odlum (1892–?)

Many a woman shudders ... at the terrible eclipse of those intellectual powers which in early life seemed prophetic of usefulness and happiness, hence the army of martyrs among our married and unmarried women who, not having cultivated a taste for science, art or literature, form a corps of nervous patients who make fortunes for agreeable physicians ...
    Sarah M. Grimke (1792–1873)
