Sea Salt

Sea salt, salt obtained by the evaporation of seawater, is used in cooking and cosmetics. It is also called bay salt or solar salt. Generally more expensive than table salt, it is commonly used in gourmet cooking and specialty potato chips, particularly the kettle cooked variety (known as hand-cooked in the UK/Europe).

Famous quotes containing the words sea and/or salt:

    Our sympathies in Massachusetts are not confined to New England; though we may be estranged from the South, we sympathize with the West. There is the home of the younger sons, as among the Scandinavians they took to the sea for their inheritance.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    These o protect from step Dames injury.
    And if chance to thine eyes shall bring this verse,
    With some sad sighs honour my absent Herse;
    And kiss this paper for thy loves dear sake,
    Who with salt tears this last Farewel did take.
    Anne Bradstreet (c. 1612–1672)
