Irregular Primes
An odd prime that is not regular is an irregular prime. The first few irregular primes are:
- 37, 59, 67, 101, 103, 131, 149, ... (sequence A000928 in OEIS)
K. L. Jensen has shown in 1915 that there are infinitely many irregular primes.
Metsänkylä proved that for any integer T > 6, there are infinitely many irregular primes not of the form mT + 1 or mT − 1.

Famous quotes containing the word irregular:
“When the weather is bad as it was yesterday, everybody, almost everybody, feels cross and gloomy. Our thin linen tentsabout like a fish seine, the deep mud, the irregular mails, the never to-be-seen paymasters, and the rest of mankind, are growled about in old-soldier style. But a fine day like today has turned out brightens and cheers us all. We people in camp are merely big children, wayward and changeable.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
