Reformed Presbyterian Church (denominational Group) - Present

Present

Reformed Presbyterians can be characterised by having a belief in the Bible as the literal Word of God, which is clearly demonstrated in many individual members' stances on moral issues such as abortion, homosexuality and gambling laws. The various Reformed Presbyterian denominations worship God using Psalms only (a practice known as Exclusive Psalmody), unaccompanied by music, which they argue is set forth in the New Testament, a practice that, while widely followed in the past by Presbyterian and other churches, is followed by few denominations throughout the world today.

Famous quotes containing the word present:

In her present ignorance, woman’s religion, instead of making her noble and free, by the wrong application of great principles of right and justice, has made her bondage but more certain and lasting, her degradation more hopeless and complete.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)

Ambition is an uncomfortable companion many times. He creates a discontent with present surroundings and achievements; he is never satisfied but always pressing forward to better things in the future. Restless, energetic, purposeful, it is ambition that makes of the creature a real man.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

A book is not an autonomous entity: it is a relation, an axis of innumerable relations. One literature differs from another, be it earlier or later, not because of the texts but because of the way they are read: if I could read any page from the present time—this one, for instance—as it will be read in the year 2000, I would know what the literature of the year 2000 would be like.
    Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986)
