Red Blooded Woman - Background and Compostion

Background and Compostion

"Red Blooded Woman" was released as the album's second single in March 2004. The song is written by British songwriters Johnny Douglas and Karen Poole, and is also produced by both Douglas and Poole. "Red Blooded Woman" is a Hip-Hop and R&B inspired song, with some electronic production within the song. Lyrically, the song talks about sexual empowerment. According to PopMatters, "“Red Blooded Woman” blends the 80s sound with an almost garage-like beat, the lyrics containing yet another ‘80s reference (Dead or Alive this time), not to mention a great line in, “You’ll never get to Heaven if you’re scared of getting high.”
