Prague Metro - The Future

The Future

There are further plans to build a completely new line, the D line (or blue line). Line D would connect the city centre to the southern parts of the city and according to the newest plans, the line would run along the same tracks as Line C from Nádraží Holešovice to Pankrác station, before branching down a new line to the suburban neighbourhoods of Krč, Libuš and Písnice in the south. The construction may start in 2015.

The first phase of a CZK18.7 billion extension on the west end of the A line is currently under construction, from Dejvická station to Motol, which is forecast to open to the public in 2014. The second phase of this extension will see the line reach Václav Havel Airport and is set to open by 2021. Before this, a railway connection to the airport will be opened.

An E line has also been proposed, but not much is known about it yet and no official plans were released.

Famous quotes containing the word future:

The primary function of myth is to validate an existing social order. Myth enshrines conservative social values, raising tradition on a pedestal. It expresses and confirms, rather than explains or questions, the sources of cultural attitudes and values.... Because myth anchors the present in the past it is a sociological charter for a future society which is an exact replica of the present one.
    Ann Oakley (b. 1944)

The person who does not worry about the future will shortly have worries about the present.
    —Chinese proverb.
