Religious Life
A Christian school rooted in the Episcopal tradition, Parish makes numerous efforts to be an inclusive community grounded in respect and honor for each of its members. The religious pluralism of the school community provides an opportunity to foster the spiritual formation of its students from a variety of faith traditions. The phrase a “Christian community of service and worship” is incorporated into every aspect of student life and community service is required of each student. There are daily enriching chapel services and a weekly formal Eucharist service every Thursday. This service is complete with dress uniform, choral offerings from the Upper Elementary, Middle School and High School choirs and student servers who help to provide the communion. The chapel services at the Hillcrest campus take place in the Church of Transfiguration. Beginning in eighth grade there is a world religions study which is required. Lower grades take part in age-appropriate religion classes.

Famous quotes containing the words religious and/or life:
“What we must look for here is, 1st, religious and moral principles; 2ndly, gentlemanly conduct; 3rdly, intellectual ability.”
—Thomas Arnold (17951842)
“The East is the hearthside of America. Like any home, therefore, it has the defects of its virtues. Because it is a long-lived-in house, it bursts its seams, is inconvenient, needs constant refurbishing. And some of the family resources have been spent. To attain the privacy that grown-up people find so desirable, Easterners live a harder life than people elsewhere. Today it is we and not the frontiersman who must be rugged to survive.”
—Phyllis McGinley (19051978)
