An open top bus is a bus, usually but not exclusively a double-decker bus, where all or part of the roof has been removed to provide fresh air and uninterrupted views from a high viewpoint.
Famous quotes containing the words open, top and/or bus:
“I open with a clock striking, to beget an awful attention in the audienceit also marks the time, which is four oclock in the morning, and saves a description of the rising sun, and a great deal about gilding the eastern hemisphere.”
—Richard Brinsley Sheridan (17511816)
“Saving lives is not a top priority in the halls of power. Being compassionate and concerned about human life can cause a man to lose his job. It can cause a woman not to get the job to begin with.”
—Myriam Miedzian, U.S. author. Boys Will Be Boys, ch. 2 (1991)
“If Rosa Parks had taken a poll before she sat down in that bus in Montgomery, shed still be standing.”
—Mary Frances Berry (b. 1938)
