Ohio Union

Aaron Cohn is the original founder of The Ohio Union. The Ohio Union was created in 1908 when Aaron Cohn started a campaign that lead to the creation of a student union at The Ohio State University campus where the student body could come together. The Ohio Union is a student activity center at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Ohio Union serves as one of two student activity centers at Ohio State; Drake Union is the other student activity center. The Ohio Union provides facilities for student activities, organizations and events, and serves as a meeting place for campus and community interaction. Many student services and programs are housed in the union, along with dining and recreational facilities. It also serves as the home base for the "Explore Columbus" program, which provides students with discounted or free tickets. Opening day was March 29, 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words ohio and/or union:

This fair homestead has fallen to us, and how little have we done to improve it, how little have we cleared and hedged and ditched! We are too inclined to go hence to a “better land,” without lifting a finger, as our farmers are moving to the Ohio soil; but would it not be more heroic and faithful to till and redeem this New England soil of the world?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

These semi-traitors [Union generals who were not hostile to slavery] must be watched.—Let us be careful who become army leaders in the reorganized army at the end of this Rebellion. The man who thinks that the perpetuity of slavery is essential to the existence of the Union, is unfit to be trusted. The deadliest enemy the Union has is slavery—in fact, its only enemy.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
