History
Northcentral University was founded in 1996 by Dr. Donald Hecht. In 1978 Hecht had established California Southern University, formerly known as Southern California University for Professional Studies (SCUPS).
In 2003 the University received regional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission.
In 2007 the headquarters was established in Prescott, Arizona. In that same year, the school received ACBSP accreditation.
On October 8, 2008, Northcentral announced the university was being purchased by Rockbridge Growth Equity, LLC.
In 2011 the US Department of Education determined Northcentral was one of 75 institutions that had failed its 2009-2010 financial responsibility test, and would be required to post a letter of credit in order for students to receive federal financial aid. The university has since responded to the school's accreditor - the Higher Learning Commission which has since affirmed that the institution has addressed the financial issues at a satisfactory level.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“Books of natural history aim commonly to be hasty schedules, or inventories of Gods property, by some clerk. They do not in the least teach the divine view of nature, but the popular view, or rather the popular method of studying nature, and make haste to conduct the persevering pupil only into that dilemma where the professors always dwell.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“It takes a great deal of history to produce a little literature.”
—Henry James (18431916)
“The principle office of history I take to be this: to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity.”
—Tacitus (c. 55117)
