North Sea Commission

The North Sea Commission is an international organization founded in 1989. It facilitates partnerships between regions connected with the North Sea and promotes the North Sea Basin as an economic entity within Europe.

Unlike most international organizations, the members of the North Sea Commission are primarily subnational administrative divisions rather than states.

Famous quotes containing the words north, sea and/or commission:

The pure products of America go crazy—mountain folk from Kentucky or the ribbed north end of Jersey with its isolate lakes and valleys, its deaf-mutes, thieves.
    William Carlos Williams (1883–1963)

    The sea called
    you faced the estuary,
you were drowned as the tide passed.
    I am glad of this
    at least you have escaped.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

Children cannot eat rhetoric and they cannot be sheltered by commissions. I don’t want to see another commission that studies the needs of kids. We need to help them.
    Marian Wright Edelman (b. 1939)
