Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) as a course is based on the Advanced Trauma Life Support, a course for physicians developed by the American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma. PHTLS courses follow the principles of care of trauma patients as developed by this Committee on Trauma. The Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons also provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program.

Although originating in the United States, PHTLS is international in scope and courses are found in 33 countries worldwide. PHTLS is also equivalent to ITLS course.

Famous quotes containing the words trauma, life and/or support:

The trauma of the Sixties persuaded me that my generation’s egalitarianism was a sentimental error.... I now see the hierarchical as both beautiful and necessary. Efficiency liberates; egalitarianism tangles, delays, blocks, deadens.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)

... all my life I’ve been terrible at remembering people’s names. I once introduced a friend of mine as Martini. Her name was actually Olive.
    Tallulah Bankhead (1903–1968)

[They] hired a large house as a receptacle for gentlewomen, who either had no fortunes, or so little that it would not support them. For these they made the most comfortable institution [and] provided [them] with all conveniences for rural amusements, a library, musical instruments, and implements for various works.
    Sarah Fielding (1710–1768)
