Famous quotes containing the word letters:
“How dare I read Washingtons campaigns, when I have not answered the letters of my own correspondents? Is not that a just objection to much of our reading? It is a pusillanimous desertion of our work to gaze after our neighbours. It is peeping.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“My spelling is Wobbly. Its good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.”
—A.A. (Alan Alexander)
“I have a vast deal to say, and shall give all this morning to my pen. As to my plan of writing every evening the adventures of the day, I find it impracticable; for the diversions here are so very late, that if I begin my letters after them, I could not go to bed at all.”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
