Famous quotes containing the word notice:
“However closely people are attached to one another, their mutual horizon nonetheless includes all four compass directions, and now and again they notice it.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“Strange goings on! Jones did it slowly, deliberately, in the bathroom, with a knife, at midnight. What he did was butter a piece of toast. We are too familiar with the language of action to notice at first an anomaly: the it of Jones did it slowly, deliberately,... seems to refer to some entity, presumably an action, that is then characterized in a number of ways.”
—Donald Davidson (b. 1917)
“Time, as is well known, sometimes flies like a bird and sometimes crawls like a worm, but human beings are generally particularly happy when they dont notice whether its passing quickly or slowly.”
—Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev (18181883)
