Lehigh Valley Conference - History

History

The Lehigh Valley Conference was founded November 14, 2001, rejoining most of the 12 schools that had formerly competed at various times between 1976 and 1997 in the East Penn Conference before five schools left that league to join the Mountain Valley Conference (MVC). (Phillipsburg High School had previously left the East Penn Conference and moved into a New Jersey league in 1994 so as to be eligible for NJISAA football playoffs.) Ten of these schools reunited to form the Lehigh Valley Conference, along with Nazareth Area High School from the MVC, which had competed in the neighboring Colonial League before moving to the MVC. One more former East Penn Conference school was admitted to the new conference in February 2002. Conference play began with the 2002-03 school year.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of modern art is also the history of the progressive loss of art’s audience. Art has increasingly become the concern of the artist and the bafflement of the public.
    Henry Geldzahler (1935–1994)

The one duty we owe to history is to rewrite it.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

The visual is sorely undervalued in modern scholarship. Art history has attained only a fraction of the conceptual sophistication of literary criticism.... Drunk with self-love, criticism has hugely overestimated the centrality of language to western culture. It has failed to see the electrifying sign language of images.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
