Kumasi

Kumasi (historically spelled Comassie) is a city and the capital of Kumasi Metropolitan and Ashanti, Akanland, Ghana. Kumasi has a population of 1,989,062 people.

Kumasi is located near Lake Bosomtwe, in the Rain Forest Region about 250 kilometres (160 mi) (by road). Kumasi is approximately 300 miles (480 km) north of the Equator and 100 miles (160 km) north of the Gulf of Guinea. It is popularly known as "The Garden City" or "heart beat" of Akanland because of its many beautiful species of flowers and plants.
