Kona Brewing Company - Caps and Labels

Caps and Labels

The collectible caps of Kona beers all have Hawaiian words partnered with their English definitions. There are now 50 words in the collection Some examples include:

  • Wai: Water
  • Brah: Dude
  • He’e nalu: Surfing
  • Kâmau: Cheers
  • ‘Ale: Wave Crest
  • Pâ‘ina: Dinner Party

The labels are produced by Flint Design Co. of Portland, OR (formerly known as Anstey Healy Design) and have been the sole graphics company for the brand, designing everything from the logo to packaging. All labels depict actual beaches and island scenes in Hawaii, such as Longboard Island Lager showing Honolulu's Waikiki Beach on Oahu. The crater in the background is Diamond Head. The label shows "surfers backed by Hawaii's volcanic mountains ride blue, blue waves toward a broad and sandy beach. The logo itself echoes a tribal tattoo, adding to the local vibe."

Famous quotes containing the words caps and, caps and/or labels:

At the milliners, the ladies we met were so much dressed, that I should rather have imagined they were making visits than purchases. But what diverted me most was, that we were more frequently served by men than by women; and such men! so finical, so affected! they seemed to understand every part of a woman’s dress better than we do ourselves; and they recommended caps and ribbons with an air of so much importance, that I wished to ask them how long they had left off wearing them.
    Frances Burney (1752–1840)
