Komenda

Komenda is a town and a municipality in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.

Above the settlement is a complex with a castle, a Baroque church dedicated to Saint Peter, a parsonage, stables and a cemetery. The church is first referred to in documents dating to 1147. In 1726 the old church was pulled down to make way for the new building. The surroundings were redesigned according to plans by the architect Jože Plečnik.
