History
Originally, the district was a minor district under the district Phu Khio. 1917 the minor district was renamed from Kaset Sombun to Ban Yang, the name of the central tambon. On March 1 1939 the minor district was upgraded to a full district and renamed back to the historical name Kaset Sombun. Khun Nikon Nanthakit (At Watthanasuk) was the first district officer after the upgrade.
