Mixed Martial Arts Career
In the summer of 2007, Francis announced that he would be returning to fight in mixed martial arts, competing at Cage Rage 23: Unbelievable on 22 September 2007. Slated to face Gary Turner in his debut, Francis stated that he expected the move to mixed martial arts to be comfortable for him, as he was already a good kickboxer before he took up boxing. His opponent Gary Turner was previously beaten by one of Francis's own conquerors, Matt Skelton, in a K-1 tournament in 2000. Francis lost the fight by Submission (Strikes) at 2:15 in Round 2.

“What exacerbates the strain in the working class is the absence of money to pay for services they need, economic insecurity, poor daycare, and lack of dignity and boredom in each partners job. What exacerbates it in upper-middle class is the instability of paid help and the enormous demands of the career system in which both partners become willing believers. But the tug between traditional and egalitarian models of marriage runs from top to bottom of the class ladder.”
—Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
