Famous quotes containing the words tax and/or law:

    Rumble thy bellyful! Spit, fire! Spout, rain!
    Nor rain, wind, thunder, fire are my daughters.
    I tax you not, you elements, with unkindness;
    I never gave you kingdom, called you children.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    From the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. Charles Darwin (1809–1882)
