Markby

Markby is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north-east from Alford.

The church of St Peter's is the only remaining thatched church in Lincolnshire. It is surrounded by the remains of a moat, part of Markby Priory of St Peter (dissolved in 1536) founded by Ralf FitzGilbert during the reign of Henry II. The church is believed to have been built of stone from the old priory, and the bell to be the priory's refectory bell.
