Famous quotes containing the words process, description and/or language:
“We tend to be so bombarded with information, and we move so quickly, that theres a tendency to treat everything on the surface level and process things quickly. This is antithetical to the kind of openness and perception you have to have to be receptive to poetry. ... poetry seems to exist in a parallel universe outside daily life in America.”
—Rita Dove (b. 1952)
“Whose are the truly labored sentences? From the weak and flimsy periods of the politician and literary man, we are glad to turn even to the description of work, the simple record of the months labor in the farmers almanac, to restore our tone and spirits.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Though language forms the preacher,
Tis good works make the man.”
—Eliza Cook (18181889)
