Hydrolase

In biochemistry, a hydrolase /ˈhaɪdrəleɪz/ is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of a chemical bond. For example, an enzyme that catalyzed the following reaction is a hydrolase:

A–B + H₂O → A–OH + B–H
