Gouais Blanc - Distribution and Wines

Distribution and Wines

As mentioned above, Gouais Blanc until now have survived mostly as a museum curiosity. Since the Middle Ages there have been regular attempts to ban the peasants' grape from the soils of France, which probably says something about its typical winemaking qualities. However, Gouais Blanc has continued to be commercially grown at several vineyards in Switzerland and in recent years, a few historically interested wine producers have started to plant small amounts of Gouais Blanc.

Famous quotes containing the words distribution and/or wines:

The man who pretends that the distribution of income in this country reflects the distribution of ability or character is an ignoramus. The man who says that it could by any possible political device be made to do so is an unpractical visionary. But the man who says that it ought to do so is something worse than an ignoramous and more disastrous than a visionary: he is, in the profoundest Scriptural sense of the word, a fool.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

Mixing one’s wines may be a mistake, but old and new wisdom mix admirably.
    Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956)
