Global Address List - Updating The Global Address List

Updating The Global Address List

When making modifications to Exchange objects, such as mailboxes and distribution groups, it will take 24 hours before these modifications are reflected in the Global Address List. This can be worked around by running the Update-GlobalAddressList command from the Microsoft Exchange Shell (or alternatively, from the GUI: System Manager in 2000/2003 or Exchange Management Console in 2007/2010). As this can be time consuming, especially if updating both the Global Address List and the Address List, a number of third party GUI applications are available to carry out the task; such as G/AL Update.

Famous quotes containing the words global, address and/or list:

Much of what Mr. Wallace calls his global thinking is, no matter how you slice it, still “globaloney.” Mr. Wallace’s warp of sense and his woof of nonsense is very tricky cloth out of which to cut the pattern of a post-war world.
    Clare Boothe Luce (1903–1987)

I believe the alphabet is no longer considered an essential piece of equipment for traveling through life. In my day it was the keystone to knowledge. You learned the alphabet as you learned to count to ten, as you learned “Now I lay me” and the Lord’s Prayer and your father’s and mother’s name and address and telephone number, all in case you were lost.
    Eudora Welty (b. 1909)

We saw the machinery where murderers are now executed. Seven have been executed. The plan is better than the old one. It is quietly done. Only a few, at the most about thirty or forty, can witness [an execution]. It excites nobody outside of the list permitted to attend. I think the time for capital punishment has passed. I would abolish it. But while it lasts this is the best mode.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
