Geroy Simon - Personal Life

Personal Life

Before ultimately choosing football as a career, Simon enjoyed great success as a basketball player at a young age. He also took up baseball and track, but became attracted to football after watching Walter Payton. Envisioning a career in professional football, he accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Maryland. During his spare time, Simon listens to B.B. King, watches SportsCentre, and plays pool. He also coaches his son's minor football team. Geroy lives in Langley, British Columbia during the season with his wife Tracy and their two children Jaden, and Jordan. His eldest son Gervon, who was born when Geroy was a freshman at Maryland, is currently the starting quarterback at Greater Johnstown High School, Geroy's alma mater. Gervon has committed to attend the US Military Academy and play for the Army Black Knights in 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

    Wherever the State touches the personal life of the infant, the child, the youth, or the aged, helpless, defective in mind, body or moral nature, there the State enters “woman’s peculiar sphere,” her sphere of motherly succor and training, her sphere of sympathetic and self-sacrificing ministration to individual lives.
    Anna Garlin Spencer (1851–1931)

    I am so tired of taking to others
    translating my life for the deaf, the blind,
    the “I really want to know what your life is like without giving up any of my privileges
    to live it” white women
    the “I want to live my white life with Third World women’s style and keep my skin
    class privileges” dykes
    Lorraine Bethel, African American lesbian feminist poet. “What Chou Mean We, White Girl?” Lines 49-54 (1979)
